Little pick-me-up.

I've been in a slump lately, and I didn't realize how bad it was. School really stresses you out, and your environment definitely plays a huge part, I just forgot how much.

I have been feeling down lately but came home this weekend. It's always so nice to just be in your own bed and with people you love. My family made me feel better and to be in a nice clean environment helps so much.

I no longer feel so sluggish and I've been studying more diligently. Of course there is more interruptions but overall I've been much more productive. And as always, absence makes the heart grow fonder and me and my mom have been getting along well.

I was also lucky enough to talk to Lyy for the first time in forever. We are both busy with our own lives, but we managed to talk on LINE for a bit, actually 5 1/2 hours haha.

I knew I should have been studying but friends make you feel so much better and it was so nice to talk about everything going on in her life. It makes me happy. And talking about when I return to Japan is also nice.

This was such a nice weekend, and with midterms coming up this distress was something I needed. Back to studying like crazy, but just 6 weeks till I'm done!

Gifs from here

Procrastination at it's absolute best. With midterms coming up soon, I should be stressing out and studying but instead I am stressing out and procrastinating by binge watching Japanese films and dramas.

I just recently watched a cute movie called Kinkyori Renai which I came across randomly. It's been a while since I watched film adaptions of mangas. Although it's one of those teacher and student relationships which is really inappropriate, I couldn't help but really enjoy this film.

It has Yamapi, which I felt that he played the role of the teacher very well and his English was surprisingly good, probably better than most real Japanese English teachers in Japan (sorry, not sorry). The girl was really pretty, I liked her right away when I saw her and turns out the actress name is Nana Komatsu. Sound familiar? Yup, just like from NANA, what are the odds? I wonder if that's her birth name.

Anyways, the film was pretty adorable. Maybe I liked it because the girl's personality was different than what I had expected. I don't know. The soundtrack was also nice. Stayed up till 2am to finish the film and I've had the ending song stuck in my head all day. Been playing it on repeat for a while now.

I think I'm going to start uploading random cellphone photos from Japan I never posted. There aren't many, but just a few here and there that I want to put somewhere.

These photos are from when I lived in Sugamo and would go to school in Mejiro at 日本女子大学 (Japan's Women University). Although I didn't enjoy my experience during the ILP program I had over the summer, I did enjoy the walk from the station to campus. It was around 20 minutes but it was pretty green despite being Tokyo.

The walks weren't pleasant in the heat though haha. But I would always get ice cream or something cold walking back to the station. And I loved how we would always cross a bridge that overlooked a highway that reminded me of New York (last photo).

There were definitely some nice moments during my first summer in Japan. I want to go back to Mejiro sometime again.

Soju Belly / Hiromi's Graduation.

Monday night I hung out with Jenny. She texted me, and I could tell something was up so we met up. Turns out her and her bf broke up, which makes things inconvenient due to her living situation so she just didn't want to be home.

We got some tea where we had matcha soy tea. It was amazingly good, and better than milk tea in my opinion. Afterwards, we met up with a friend of Jenny's in Garden Grove at Soju Belly to have drinks.

The place was empty since it was a Monday night, but it seemed cool. They played music videos on the TV, both Kpop and American music.

They are known for their soju fruit drinks. We ordered the watermelon, so the watermelon is cut open and they pour the soju inside so you can mix it with the actual fruit. It was so good. It was only $6 each and we had around 4 shots of it.

We didn't stay out long since Jenny had work at 8am the next morning, but it was nice to just hang out and chill.

Tuesday evening was Hiromi's graduation from her marketing program at UCI. She wasn't planning on going but I told her she should because she worked hard and we could go to the pub afterwards to celebrate. She only wanted the drinks so she agreed lol.

It was cool to see the graduation ceremony, so many people from different countries. I forgot how international students have such a different vibe from regular students.

Hiromi was surprised how many of the Spanish names were so long, and how much they cheered for each other when one of their friends went to get their certificate. It made us both smile though, outgoing people seem like so much fun.

Hiromi took photos with her friends from the program and then we went to the pub to chill.

It was super crowded for a Tuesday night. We stayed there till around 12am sharing a pitcher or apple cider lol and I met one of her friends.

She thanked me for convincing her to go to graduation because she enjoyed it. I'm glad :]
